Our History

The University & Industry Consortium (UIC) was established in 1992 by Dr. Will Carpenter and Mr. Ralph "Doug" Tisher with Monsanto Company.

The inaugural formal meeting took place in Fall 1992, bringing together Mississippi State University, Purdue University, University of Nebraska, and the University of Arizona to discuss organizational development, plant sciences, and animal sciences.

Over nearly three decades, the organization has grown significantly to encompass over 60 member organizations. Participants represent a global network spanning the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, and other regions.
